Blimey was lost in thoughts, he couldn't just sleep, and he was to have this big life-defining test the next day. It was past 2am and he really needed to catch some sleep so he wouldn't, you know, doze off during the test.
Different scenarios of how the test could go kept scrolling and swirling through his mind. It was driving him nuts. He wanted to call Smiles, his friend next door who advised him to take sleeping pills and offered him some.
Just when he picked up his phone to call Smiles, he heard something..
"Hey". He said, unsure why he would think there was someone.
Then he heard it again, this time sure there was someone else in the room.
"I know you're there".
"I really need to work on my hiding skills". Said the man as he stood up and dusted his coat.
"Hey, who are you? Turn on the lights, man".
"No need for that".
"Who are you? You can't just break into people's homes".
Click. Went the light switch. Blimey couldn't believe what he saw. A man? A ghost? He was like a shadow, like... Hades?.
"I didn't break in". Said the shadow man. "Look, there isn't much time."
"Am I dreaming? Oh thank goodness. It means I finally got some sleep.."
"Yeah, that's the thing... You aren't asleep. You're just awake in another reality"
"Wait, Hey! What are you saying?.. And what's with the hat?"
Some sort of portal opened and the shadow man started to dissapear.
"I'm real. I'm darkshadow. We'll meet again".
"hm". He said as he stared at nothing.

Blimey tried to sleep, trying to ignore what just happened. Not long after, he found himself dreaming again. This time in fantasy worlds, doing whatever he wanted. He met Smiles at an arcade and they played Blur, Shot on Target and all the fun games they could think of. At some point, Smiles said "This is so awesome. Its like we're dreaming, only, its real!"
"I know right". Said Blimey, wondering if something was off. Soon enough, he was in another dream, and another, and another...
"Wake up Wake up". Smiles, from the 'real' world, trying to wake him up.
"You'll be late for your test".
He woke, and saw his friend.
"Bet you wanted em pills, huh? I saw your call. Meanwhile I had a really weird dream".
"You have no idea". Said Blimey, who was sure his was weirder.
"GRINNGGG!" Rang the alarm as Blimey woke up. Again. No, what's really going on here?
He got a call. "Now, what the hell is going on!". Said a confused Smiles.
"I don't know. Are we still dreaming? Oh my God. Am I still sleeping?".
"Chillax, man. It looks like that shadow guy was right". Said Smiles.
"What? You met him too? He said something about alternate realities".
"Yeah, it's like we kinda were in the same dream. Chill, if shadow was saying the truth, that means...".
"Means what?".
"You were never asleep".
"So what are you saying?".
"I'm saying you just pulled an all-nighter."
